OFF-WHITE x Nike "The Ten" Jordan 1

"Kickin' It" is a new section on my blog that's completely dedicated to looks that I style from the toe-box up. I don't know what it is, but I always find myself reaching for a pair of kicks over any other shoe, and I know for a fact that there are many of you out there that do the same.  I believe that being comfortable in what you're wearing (especially if you're on your feet all day) helps to exude the utmost confidence, and you can elevate any look with a really great pair of sneakers.

Whether its a classic silhouette or one that's reworked with intricate design, I like to have the shoe take the spotlight in a look and let the rest follow. It's very easy to build an outfit when you have a strong base, and needless to say, it's not hard to do with this legendary sneaker.

I was thrilled to get my hands on a pair of the OFF-WHITE x Nike Jordan 1s, one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.  Virgil Abloh really killed this collaboration with his incredible take on some of the top 10 Nike sneaker silhouettes including my favorite, the classic Air Jordan 1.  Its a powerful shoe, so styling it with some color coordination and simple on-trend pieces was key for me.

Keeping the clothing on the more minimal side was important for this look being that the footwear is what really stands out.  Less is more.

For styling during the colder seasons I really try to focus on eye-catching outerwear and bold accessories.  Aside from the kicks, my puffer jacket from Urban Outfitters really brings some life to this look and coordinates well with the sneakers.  I'm learning that incorporating a touch of vibrant color can really strengthen an outfit.  The coat is boxy and cropped, so it's perfect for layering over a warm sweater.  I played with proportions and a mix of warm materials with my Stussy hoodie, which definitely helped to keep me cozy.

Being that I went for oversized pieces up top, I decided to go with a more tapered pant to balance out the layering.  A pair of simple black chinos from Carhartt are an easy match.  They've got excellent quality and structure.

Since the pants were a bit cropped (not to mention, my legs are too long for most bottoms), I threw on a pair of long socks so that the sliver of my ankles wouldn't freeze. Letting a pair of long socks peek from underneath your pants is a chic way to style a look for the winter while keeping warm.  It also helps to take the sportiness away from your kicks if you're trying to master a more sophisticated street style look.

I finished off my fit with some basic accessories.  My shoulder bag from All Saints is the perfect LBB (Little Black Bag). It sits subtly to the side while blending in very cohesively.  I shot this look in 19 degree weather, so a pair of gloves was a MUST.  To top it all off? Cat eye sunnies with a bold red lip--Ruby Woo from MAC to be exact.

I really enjoyed styling this look with such a incredible pair of sneakers as the focus.  Were you able to get your hands on any of the sneakers from the drop?  Stay tuned for more Kickin' It content!
