Yes, You Can Totally Pull Off A Dress With Sneakers

The other day, I woke up not wanting to wear pants. It's really as simple as that--the thought of me hoisting another pair of jeans up my legs was cringe-worthy. With spring making these peek-a-boo appearances, I've become incredibly tired of my recycling my winter wardrobe while waiting for this warm weather to pull through. So, on a 65 degree Saturday (that's hot enough, right?) I decided to whip out a dress.

Being that I had work that day, also considering the fact that I had no sandals readily available, I decided to pair the dress with some kicks--a plain white pair of Nike Cortezes to be exact. My go-to footwear of choice is always a pair of sneakers because I like to be comfortable at all times, they're super versatile, and quiet frankly, it's really just part of my style aesthetic.

A dress with sneakers is the ultimate combo for creating a look that's feminine with a tomboy touch. For the ladies that want to tap into a more sophisticated style but can't seem to let the sneakers go, this look is totally doable. It's fun and flirty, and you can totally get creative.

I love pairing sneakers with a slip dress. Slip dresses are sleek and sexy, so rocking one with some kicks tones the look down and creates a fun contrast. Play with proportions too--the dress can be loose-fit or tight, and the sneakers can be narrow or boxy. In my opinion, you can make anything look great--it's all about how you wear it.

For this outfit, I channeled a cute baby doll look. Layering a dress over a t-shirt is adorbz and can serve as appropriate dress-code (I had work on this day so I had to keep it cool). I finished off the white/black color coordination with my accessories--white retro sunnies and frilly black socks.

Have you experimented with the sneaker/dress combo? It's definitely going to be an outfit go-to of mine very frequently throughout the summer as I plan to always be on the go.
